Have a look at THIS. It seems I'm not alone in considering the conviction of Fr. Robinson to be a travesty. It's about time for sensible people to speak out about this, instead of being cowed by irresponsible journalism and people with their own agendas.

Here be Dragons

At first glance, this building on Monroe is fairly nondescript. Look again. Notice the brickwork at the top. I suspect there was a metal cornice at one time. Then notice the small stone blocks set into the facade.

There are more along the side. Each one has a face carved on it. Now, look at the back door. That's where they really pulled all the stops.

It's outlined in stone, carved with a foliage pattern, and there's a dragon at each end. Cockatrice, I believe, is the name for this sort.

About Damn Time

Mr. Richey has gone home, sparing Northwest Ohio any further international embarrassment. Hopefully, we'll see progress on getting rid of the death penalty, so the whole civilized world will be able to stop laughing at the US whenever the "leader of the free world" line comes up. The leader of the free world has no damn business killing its own citizens, a practise that's only used nowadays, by the most backward or tyrannical nations.
It's also time to put an end to these public spectacles by victims' families. If the US wants to call itself a Christian nation, the desire for vengeance is something that can't be tolerated, much less encouraged.

The Wild Side of Toledo

You can't tell from this picture, but that's a bald eagle flying over the river's edge, in the Old South End. Last time I saw him, he was right over the back yard. I didn't have a camera handy, so he put on quite a show for me, that time.

This time, I had the camera, but he was in too much of a hurry to stick around while I got it out of my pocket.

This one will show what an uncooperative bugger he was. That's a flagpole. If he'd flown back this way and I'd raised the camera while he was in the right spot, I could have gotten a spectacular shot.
