Immaculate Conception Church, Old South End

Broadway Methodist Church
This was built in 1892, at Broadway and Crittenden. Tolerable design, by L.G. Weiker. The tower was nice and I like the gables. The congregation celebrated its hundredth anniversary by being damn fool enough to tear it down. Damn fools. I don't have the full story, yet, but from what I've heard, I have nothing but contempt for everyone involved in that decision.
Erie Street Market
This is, more or less, how it looked when it was built, in 1908. There had been some urn-like thingummies on the top, and some relief carving around the top.
Edward Fallis designed it, and it was every bit as unusual then as these pictures look now. The whole place was remodelled in the 1970's.
