One Seagate

Woodlawn Cemetery, West Toledo

I suspect this one had Napoleon's tomb in mind.
The cupola of the former chapel is the only part that hasn't been changed beyond recognition. As it stands, the thing's a horrible mess.

Woodlawn Cemetery

Edward and Florence Libbey

Chief Justice Waite

I'm a bit surprised the stained glass turned out so well, since some were taken through clear glass or plexiglass panes in the doors.

There are some excellent Gothic monuments from the 1920's.

I believe I have enough for about three days of posts. More tomorrow.

Day of the Dipshits

Seems to be a banner day for nincompoopery in Northwest Ohio. Have a look at THIS ACCOUNT of the Great Ice Fishing Fiasco. Pay particular attention to the real winner who said "we weren't in any danger." Pardon me, but if they weren't in any danger why did someone end up dead and the rescue operation end up costing $20,000.00? I wholeheartedly agree with the sheriff and police chief quoted in TODAY'S BLADE .
By the way, the incident even drew the notice of Auntie Beeb

Of course, no analysis of Northwest Ohio dipshitery could be complete without a mention of the brain dead morons of WSPD. I think THIS ARTICLE misses the mark. There are two reasons why the cutting edge media known as AM radio has been abandoned to the yapping of libertarian/pseudo-conservative blowhards. First, the sort of whiney permanent adolescents who like that sort of wanking are the only ones who haven't moved past the 50's world of AM. Second, those of us who didn't have our development arrested at the age of fourteen know how to find commentery online, unlike the average listener of WSPD, who, from the sound of things, seem unlikely to have mastered anything more complicated than a ball-peen hammer.

Woodlawn Cemetery

When the snow's gone I'm going to go hog wild in this place.

Does anyone know why this one has a chair in it?

I Have to Say It

I am so fucking sick of taking pictures of churches, posting pictures of churches, and even looking at churches, that, until further notice, I'm only going to post pictures of buildings that serve a more useful purpose than churches. If you have any suggestions for houses, stores, schools, factories, power plants, whorehouses, crack houses, or outhouses, or any other building that serves a purpose with more social value than religion, just let me know.

St. Paul's Lutheran, Downtown

An odd, but very pleasant, mixture of 19th and 20th century elements.

St. Paul's Lutheran, Downtown

It's symptomatic of my growing impatience with pseudo-Gothic frippery that my favorite feature was a remarkable 1950's staircase.

2008 Latest Edition - Did You Know 3.0 - From Meeting in Rome this Year

Amazing. The world is changing by the moment, yet we expect business and government to respond using the outmoded ideas of the 50's.
