Salem Lutheran Church, Vistula Historic District

A magnificent altar. The statues are of St. Peter and St. Paul.
I'm curious about the painting, which appears to be the Ascension. Looks like the style of the German religious painters of the 19th century. Does anyone know who did it?
Vaulting, even simple vaulting was not common in Protestant churches of this period. Very well done, and the design on the bracket is wonderful.
The rose is a Lutheran emblem.
The pews are divided, down the center. This is a holdover from the old Protestant custom of having men on one side of the church and women on the other.

I like the lighting fixtures. Simple, but not too simple.
There seems to be some nice openwork decoration around the base of the pulpit.
The font is beautiful, but it competes for attention with a fine library table and what may be a very old ironstone ewer.
Thanks to commenter ShariYS for the pictures. I'll post more tomorrow.
