An Oddity

If you look at a map of the Maumee watershed, you'll notice something very odd. Usually, a river's tributaries flow in the same general direction as the river itself. With the Maumee, that pattern is reversed. The tributaries flow toward the Maumee's source. This is because, due to tricks of glaciation, millenia ago, the Maumee has changed direction. It originally flowed into the Wabash.

You can't tell from this picture, but that's a bald eagle flying over the river's edge, in the Old South End. Last time I saw him, he was right over the back yard. I didn't have a camera handy, so he put on quite a show for me, that time.

This time, I had the camera, but he was in too much of a hurry to stick around while I got it out of my pocket.

This one will show what an uncooperative bugger he was. That's a flagpole. If he'd flown back this way and I'd raised the camera while he was in the right spot, I could have gotten a spectacular shot.
